“I have long been interested in learning to eat better and to exercise more, and the Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less program gave me a non-threatening way of pursuing that. I learned how to eat more healthy meals and snacks, ways to incorporate more movement into my long days of sitting at my computer, and although I did not lose a ton of weight, I knew I was healthier for having incorporated these new ways of being purposive into my way of life. I enjoyed the program so much I did the course three times!! I think if someone really pays attention to what they are putting into their mouth, and also to how much we move on a daily basis, we would all be healthier.
One of the best things that I got out of this program (all 3 times) was to pay attention to what I was eating, such as processed foods. I learned to look for recipes that would fulfill the nutrients I needed, and still taste good. Finding tasty and enjoyable recipes was a great byproduct of doing this course.
One of the best aspects of this program is the idea of having a “Buddy” – someone with whom you can discuss, commiserate, support, etc…. Research has shown that having that buddy to help you through is an important success factor. I would agree! My “Buddy” was one of my colleagues, and she was enrolled in a different Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less online class day/time than mine. We supported each other, discussed meal options, walked together for exercise, etc…. She was far better about this than I was, but having someone there was helpful all the same. This is a good model!
If you’re vacillating about if this is for you, try to imagine all of the support you’ll receive – from your instructor, your fellow classmates, the Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less team, your “Buddy,” etc…., I think you’ll agree that the program is a positive factor on your way to a better and more healthy lifestyle.”
