“I have taken two of your classes. In 2020, I participated in Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes. By following the program and preparing more meals on the Mediterranean Diet, I had much success with weight loss and my A1C improved. Last week, I completed Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less.
Full disclosure, my weight had crept up since experiencing a major life change in 2022. Since February 2023, I have been watching what I eat by eating organic products, incorporating 16/8 (and religious) fasting on some days, and lowering my sugar intake. During this class, I have been reminded of what I learned in Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes, and put my knowledge to better use. My total cholesterol has dropped 45 points from where it was in 2022! I am more aware of the total added sugars in products, and my goal is to lower my A1C to below the prediabetes range.
This class has served as a great refresher course to Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes. As the director of a food pantry, I also plan to incorporate the knowledge I have gained – specifically portion sizes, added sugars, and fruit & vegetable intake – into our food pantry’s Healthy Pantry Program.”
