The Holiday Challenge Taste Test is an annual event in which we determine which recipes will be included in the Holiday Challenge. Each team member chooses a healthy recipe, brings the dish to the event, and we all taste and rate each dish. Only the highest rated dishes make it into the Holiday Challenge. It’s always a fun day in the office to celebrate the kick-off of the Holiday Challenge and to make sure find the BEST dishes to share with you all (make sure you sign up here).

Everyone who participated in the Taste Test filled out a ratings sheet and rated each dish on a scale of 0-3, with 3 being the highest. Dishes this year ranged from overnight pumpkin pie oats to chewy molasses cookies (YUM)!

We are so excited for you all to take part in this year’s Holiday Challenge. It is sure to be a fun seven weeks. For those of you who have not signed up, you still can- and it’s FREE! The Holiday Challenge promotes weight maintenance during the holidays by providing daily tips, tweets, and newsletters with healthy recipes every week. Mark your calendars for November 13th!

  1. This is Antionette Mitchell with Arkansas Department of Human Services. We have a wellness program and I have been a participant in the Holiday Challenge for at least 3 years.

Please let me know how I can present a taste test event at my workplace. and PLEASE send me the link to the chewy molasses cookies. Thanks so much for the program

    1. Hi Antionette, thank you for your continued participation in the Holiday Challenge! Hosting a Taste Test is similar to a potluck. We have one coordinator collect a binder full of various healthy holiday/winter recipes – a variety of meals, styles, flavors, etc. Then, employees choose a recipe from that binder. On the day of the taste test, each employee brings the dish and everyone enjoys a taste of each as a “pot-luck” style meal. The coordinator creates a “rating” sheet for employees to rate each dish 0-3 and to leave comments. The top rated dishes are the winners, in this case, they are the ones chosen for the Holiday Challenge. It is expressed to the employees that it is not personal, as all of the recipes were chosen by the coordinator. Hope this helps! The chewy molasses cookies will be in the Holiday Challenge newsletter for Week 3, on November 27th. 🙂
