Write down what you eat. This is a simple but very powerful stepcarolyn-lose-it in being more mindful of the food choices that you make every day. You can use old fashioned paper and pencil or track using applications such as My Fitness Pal or Lose it (my favorite).

The holidays are a great time to begin to track your food intake. It will help you be more mindful of calories that are often forgotten. The quick cookie in the break room, shot of egg nog before bed, extra glass of wine when out with friends. Writing down what you eat (and drink) will help you remember everything you consume. A good strategy is to record what you eat and drink immediately after. If this is not possible, take a picture of what you are eating to help you remember later when you have time to record. Even if you track your food and drink for only a few days, it will help you be more mindful of what and how much you are eating.
